In Senegal, radio is the best means of getting a message to the public. Bryan has already begun the process of developing radio spots in the Wolof language. These spots are aired in Saint-Louis, always directing listeners who want to know more about the Bible to local pastors, write us a letter, or visit our radio web site. The web site further explains the Bible passages, allows visitors to listen to radio spots on-line, and also gives the option to contact us via email.

What is Leer Gi | Medical Clinic | Reading Room | Daily Radio Spots Christmas Story Radio ProjectChristians from A/G churches in Saint-Louis and Dakar have contributed their voices to a new radio theater of the story of Christmas. The story takes listeners from the Angel Gabriel's visit to Mary all the way to Jesus as a boy in the Temple. It's followed by a mock call in radio show that explains the different miraculous aspects of the story. Please pray with us that this radio broadcast will have a huge impact on the country of Senegal, as it airs across the country in the upcoming weeks. Moses Radio ProjectBryan has begun work on a new radio theater about Moses and the plagues on Egypt. This will also tie into the Passover and the up coming holiday of Tabaski. Tabaski is the Muslim holiday where families purchase a ram for sacrifice. It's our prayer that this presentation will show how Jesus was a sacrificial lamb for our deliverance. Please pray with us that our listeners will have open hearts and minds to the word of God. Passion Week ProjectThe Passion Week is the last week of Jesus' life. We have found that the events of this special week are of particular interest to our Muslim friends. In response to their curiosity, we have developed radio spots to answer their questions. The week before Easter we will air one 6 minute segment each day, that describes the daily events of the Passion Week. On Easter Sunday the entire series was aired as a special 30 minute presentation. Please pray with us that the story of Christ's last week on earth will open hearts and minds of unbelievers. UpdateAlthough it's difficult to nail down an exact number of listeners, we were able to get statistics from our web site that is advertised after the radio presentations. After a year and a half of broadcasting in the Saint-Louis area, statistically every internet account in the region has visited the site 1.5 times. On Easter weekend, 1.5% of the internet accounts in Senegal visited the web site after our nation wide broadcast of the Passion Week in Wolof. What is Leer GiLeer Gi is a Wolof word that means revelation or enlightenment. The goal of the radio project is to educate listeners about Biblical truths by sharing the miracles of Jesus, the events of the passion week, the 10 commandments, etc. We hope to open minds to the knowledge of God's goodness as well as open lines of communication with listeners who desire more information about the Bible. Free Medical ClinicIn November the Leer Gi Radio program sponsored a one day free medical clinic at the Leer Gi Christian School. Eight medical professionals donated their time to give free consultations. One dentist saw over 50 patients and over 300 others were treated by doctors and nurses. Over $600 worth of medicine was also distributed.
New Reading Room
The new school building also houses a reading room where people can come to read Christian literature and learn more about the Bible. Our goal is to provide free Bibles and Biblical pamphlets as well as give visitors the opportunity to listen to the Leer Gi radio show and ask questions. The Saint-Louis church is currently meeting is this room during the weekend. We hope to have the furniture for the reading room built in the next few weeks. Please pray for this new outreach ministry that will begin in January. Daily Radio SpotsEach day at 3:30pm a three minute Wolof Leer Gi spots airs on a local radio station. These three minutes spots, read by Pastor Lamine, explore topics of the Bible. Listeners can visit the Adventures of Douda Gueye The Adventures of Douda are 6 minute Wolof theatrical radio episodes. Douda is a young Senegalese man that is struggling to find his place in the world. Each week Douda's life is turned upside down by events that are out of his control. These events mimic similar Bible stories and the moral points back to God's goodness. The voice of Douda is read by Alioun Gueye, and other characters are read by our our friends and church members. |
Prayer Requests
Listen to Leer Gi On-lineVisit the Leer Gi web site to listen to radio episodes or listen to an example here: Douda and the RadioThis episode is a parody of the story of Noah from Genesis 6. Douda's broken radio suddenly begins to work and he hears that a cloud of grasshoppers are headed toward town. The government is giving special spray to help protect crops to anyone that comes to the office. Douda tries to warn the town's people, but only his closest friend believes what he heard from the broken radio. (Return to Top)Leer Gi Web siteThe French Leer Gi web site was created as a means to get more in-depth information out to the public about the radio spots. Limited funds requires us to keep the spots short and to the point. Visitors to the web site can read more about the Biblical topics mentioned on the radio and they can contact us for more information. For more information about the web site visit: Goals for the Radio ProgramThe headquarters of the Leer Gi radio broadcast, which includes a reading room and recording studio, will be located at the primary school we are starting. In fact, everyone who enters the school will walk right past the entrance to the reading room. We are also planning to build a billboard on the main road by the school as an advertisement for the Leer Gi broadcast and primary school. Laura is in the process of upgrading the web site we advertise on the radio, so that all of our broadcasts can be heard at the web site - which is often visited over 100 times a month! The internet is a powerful way to reach Muslims in that they can learn about the Bible without anyone knowing about it Donations Send donations to: |
